8 Beach Must-Have Travel Items

Finally, esta chika, se va de vacaciones!

In one week exactly, I will be up in the air traveling to Dominican Republic and I am more than ready to dip my feet into the beautiful beaches of Punta Cana.

Traveling to the islands is always an exciting time for anyone as well as thinking about what items to pack for the trip. So, here are some must have travel items to include in your bag:

Passport: When traveling outside the country be prepared to have a passport, if you don't have one, don't worry, you can request your document at USPS. Make sure to fill out  the application correct as well as take proper documentation such as: birth certificate and I.D.

Forever 21 Clutch: Any cute colorful clutch will do, especially in tropical beaches. It's all about playing with colors and feeling the island vibes.

Hand Wipes: Hand wipes come in handy especially when traveling and when your no where near a restroom. H&M carries small packages of scented wipes for only $1.95, so don't think twice about and buy one, trust me you will thank me later.

ChapStick: Smooth hydration lips is the key to beautiful lips, so while out in the sun, don't forget to protect those gorgeous lips with a pop of strawberry, cherry or coconut.

Fuji Film xp80: This waterproof camera is perfect to take with you while roaming the beach, ocean and/or jungle and with a simple once touch you can transfer and remote shooting  with Wifi to your Android or iOS smartphone or tablet.

Sunnies: Today's sunglasses are fashionably versatile, but ladies make sure to buy sunnies that offer 100% UV protection. They help prevent wrinkles by protecting the delicate skin around the eyes, protect eyes from harmful UV Rays and prevent pterygium(aka Surfer's eye).

H&M Bathing Suit: A bathing suit is notoriously a must for beach vacations. You can find cute and sassy prints at H&M's swim line collection.

Neutrogena SPF: A sun kiss glow is a beautiful thing, but remember to protect your skin with a sunscreen that has a good SPF.

Happy Beach Bumming!

What are some of your favorite items to pack?

Eva's Collection

This Saturday, I was out strolling and shopping for outfit ideas for my upcoming trip at the Westfield Bonita Mall and I came across the Eva Mendes Collection at the New York & Company Boutique. I can't help, but admit, I've fallen in love with her fashion collection after trying on a couple of clothing garments.

And chikas, let me tell you, I've always been a petite girl my whole life and at times being called, "Hey kid.."(Umm no, not a good feeling.). So, I've been on a little journey to upgrade my wardrobe little by little with pieces of garments that make me feel more womanly and age appropriate; I guess (maybe some you understand the petite girl struggle).

Anyway...slipping into some of Eva's dresses were like: Pow Wow! Hey sexy lady, those little curves do exist! So, if you haven't checked out her line, make sure you do before the weekend sale ends.

How To: Wear A Bow Tie

Last Saturday, I attended an Above Time event at the Hotel Palomar for a little fashion fete.
I had the opportunity to sit down with the fashion designer Carey Reddick, actor Matthew McKellington and two ambassadors (Ryan & Derek) who see the fashion of bow ties blossoming in the right direction.

In a short interview with these four amazing men, Carey said," Our accessories are all about  confidence, style and making our customers stand out in the crowd. The collection of accessories included textures and colors inspired by Kenya and European culture."
'
And ladies I have to admit, the fashion show was a hit because it had a fun, cool and vibrant collection, but also because the team collaborated with the non-profit organization to raise awareness about anti-bullying issues with the help of Amanda Roussel.

Amanda is the Marketing & Public Relations for the Above Time company and she hopes this trend will make people feel empowered and beautiful as well as leave a long lasting impression in the community.

Be Bold
Be Confident
Be You

Sabor Latino

It's hard to imagine a world without Latin food cuisine.
Spices, herbs, drinks, seafood and meat were all part of
the 6th Annual Latin Food Festival.

The event had a perfect location in San Diego as guest had the opportunity to taste one of a kind samples from chefs such as: Ana Saldaña, Jaime Chavez and Jose Sparza (just to name a few) as well as Aguas Frescas beverages by North Gate Markets and Jarritos.

Ladies, remember to wear something cool and light at a outdoor event, I sported a simple shirt and skirt with some sandals, sunnies and hat.

TJ Maxx Thank You Notecards

We've made it to our one year anniversary!

and

We are celebrating our special day by sending our guest a thank you card this week.

Yes Ladies! It's been an incredible year of sweet memories and moments and although we've been together for 10 plus years, getting married was like icing on the cake (simply sweet & full of love.)

I had in mind to go to a fancy stationery store to buy notecards, but then I remembered that the TJ Maxx store also carries a small section of stationary cards, notepads, and accessories, so I stopped by to check out their collection.

And.... I just fell in love with a set of notecards that reminded me of my bridesmaids dress color, so I bought two packs for only six dollars.

Happy girl,
Happy wife,
Happy blogger

Red Flannel Look to Raise Awareness

It's not often that I take selfies in a store's dressing room, but today I happen to feel pretty empowered by my red flannel because the color Red has a strong symbolic meaning to raise awareness for AIDS research. Y Bueno, it so happens that Kiehl's 6th annual LifeRide for amFAR has taken place on it's "philanthropic motorcycle ride across several states to raise funds and awareness for AIDS research," (Kiehl's) is concluding this week in San Diego after a two week ride across the country.

The ride started of in Denver on August 4, and the motorcyclist participating in this event have traveled through Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles before making its last stop at the Kiehl’s store at Fashion Valley in San Diego on August 15 for a special finale celebration event.

The San Diego event is open to the public and will consist of meet & greets with the riders, complimentary skincare treatments, hosted bites by Soda & Swine, and healthy sips by Juice Saves. And to start things of right, Kiehl’s will be donating $150,000 to amfAR in an official on-site check presentation, and encourages attendees to the event to donate to the organization as well (Kiehl's).

In celebration of this fantastic LifeRide, every customer who comes by the Kiehl’s Fashion Valley event on Aug. 15 will receive a 15% discount on all purchases, with the exception of charitable products and value sets. Kiehl’s will donate that 15% to amfAR (up to $115,000).

Location:
Fashion Valley Kiehl’s Store
7007 Friars Rd., San Diego, CA 92108

So, to all my San Diegens, come out to support this great cause and enjoy a day with people who have a profound commitment to raise awareness.

Seaport Village with Annie

There are many days I think of what my weekends should be like and most of the time, I just escape to events that are happening around the city. So, when Annie told me we were attending the same event, I said, "girlfriend, let's get together for a cocktail or two in beautiful sunny San Diego".
If there is any way to describe our get together, I say three words: fun, chatty and cool. And of course there is always girl code conversation, the kind when a Miami girl meets a California chika. On the flip side of things, the event of  Baja by the Sea was (hmmm) overall an okay experience. Although it lacked a vibrant social seen, I did come across some good food, drinks, Baja tourist information and met a jewelry designer Dulce Chavez.
