1960's Coat

Before the end of the year, make sure to refresh your wardrobe with a great 1960's vintage coat.
I happen to come across one while shopping at H&M's clearance section and although it's not an original vintage piece, the garment still resembles the era. I remember after I spotted the coat, I thought of the TV series Mad Men and how well dressed the characters where all the time. So, I knew right away
I wanted to own a piece that took be back to that era, but also to give me a great modern fashion look.

Here's an everyday statement look you can wear while hanging out with friends.

2 in 1 Holiday Look

You could very well wear the same red and white colors this season, but I decided to change it up and give you ladies an alternative dark tone festive look. To provide you with some holiday outfit inspiration, I decided to style a chic black and white dress two different ways. Both looks are perfect for a Christmas gathering and be mindful that it's sweater season, so layer it up!

Luxury Farms

This past Sunday, I had the opportunity to attend a complimentary event with Santa at Luxury Farms.
The store location is in Coronado Island and they carry everything from kitchen essentials, gourmet food, home + garden items and baskets. Besides all the wonderful home items, I had an opportunity to learn how to make gift bows to wrap present for the holidays. So of course,  I chose to practice on two easy items such as the savon de marseille handcrafted soaps from France.

After seeing how good my bows came out, I decided to purchase the items, so I can give the soaps away as a present for the holidays. It's funny how little things work out.

Happy Shopping!

Checkered Season

Flannel shirts are easy to wear, pair it with an all white long sleeve top, skinny black jeans and booties
and your ready for a day outdoors. The red checkered shirt has been around since the all  mighty lumberjack and it's still classic. Plus, the red check print makes it the best color to wear during the holiday season.

To heighten your look try wearing a nice brown check print scarf, this adds a touch of detail.

Remember to try and keep colors subtle as normal.

Hair Youth Revival

Hola Chicas! This month, I decided to give my hair a little gift by using the
Peter Lamas youth revival hair treatment because my hair was looking
dry and damaged. And if your hair is curly like mine, many of us reduce washing our hair on
a daily basis to avoid stripping our hair from the natural essential oils, but even that doesn't cut it.

So this Saturday, I spent a little time in the shower applying the 5 oil hair treatment mask to my damp hair and massaging the product through my curls. After 3 minutes, I rinsed with water and got rid off the knots with a wide comb. Although my hair was still damped,I let it air dry, so I can style it with a Conair curling iron the next day.

The next morning it was time to style, but before applying the curling iron to my hair, remember ladies add a styling heat protectant to protect your hair from the heat. After, grab your hair in small sections and only curl half way and repeat.

Getaway

When things get too stressful in your life, it's time to plan for a getaway. And a perfect spot for
downtime with a little wine and conversation is at the Guadalupe de Valle. The Valle's country life is northeast of Ensenada and at the forefront of the Baja wine movement.

On this trip my husband along with our close friends chose to go to the Rey de 3 winery. This location is a one of many great winery's in Esenada and the staff caterers to the guest as if they were family. The selection of red and white wine are delicious as well as their food.

Come take a little online cruise with me and see the winery from my perspective.

MALIA

This past week, I had an opportunity to attend a fashion event with Malia Designs in downtown San Diego. And to be quite honest, I was happy to hang out and eat a little pizza and drink a glass of wine at the Basic restaurant with some local  San Diego style bloggers. Aside from hanging out, we also got to do a little shopping for a good cause.

Malia designs formed to increase economic opportunity for women in Cambodia and to support organizations that fight human trafficking in Southeast Asia. Their eco-friendly products are made by Fair Trade and give opportunities to people in Cambodia to have a sustainable income. The designs provide a high quality, fashion forward product that is geared towards the Western market and all of the hand bag accessories are made with used recycled materials that are good for the planet.

So take a little moment to visit their webpage and purchase a handbag or two.

Stylecon 2016

This year Stylecon's experience was more of a girls day out to enjoy a day of beauty and fashion.
So my sister, friend and I strolled along at the Hangar in Orange County to get pampered with some great beauty brand services like be glammedsleekhair and LA Girl among many more.

Besides all the great beauty stations, stylecon had speaker panels with some great influencers, but it was quite hard to listen to them because of all the background noise. So, I decided to keep exploring the beauty suites with my sister and friend and enjoy each other's company.

November Favorites

November in California is usually when we see a change of weather from hot to a little cold
and I for once love the change because it gives me every excuse to wear sweaters and scarfs.
With that said, I also wanted to upgrade some of my makeup products for chillier weather, but just in general to have better coverage than usual. So, I recently took a trip to the ULTA Beauty Store to go buy my usual make up powder by Bare Minerals and came across the barepro performance wear powder foundation.

So what does barepro performance really mean? well I really didn't know, since I am not a beauty guru, but I was definitely curious after seeing the display with 30 different shades of color. Yes ladies! 30 different shades of possible better skin tone coverage.

After trying to figure out my color, I had an ULTA makeup assistant do quick makeup session to help me find the right color.  And before you know it she recommended the Bare Mineral Barepro Pecan 18 color due to my skin tone being between medium and tan. She also recommended for better results to try the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue which has tinted hydrating gel cream with SPF 30. After our session was done I knew I was going home with a great selection and before checking out, I quickly grabbed a  Maybelline fit me concealer on the way out.

These 3 beauty products have been my November favorites for the simple fact that they all provide great coverage without excessive use. The Barepro powder foundation provides 12 hours of long wear coverage with a great matte and smooth finish. It's also made with 90% vitamins and minerals that has left my skin feeling healthier as well as improve my skin clarity, reduced my nostril and cheek pore size and most of all control my shiny ass forehead and nose. The Bare Mineral Complexion is just a whole new way to think about makeup. After only one week my skin has felt well hydrated, soft and smooth and I really thinks it's because the product formula is made without Silicone, oil, parabens and fragrance. Last, but not least is the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer product which provides great coverage for my under eye circle imperfections and it  naturally blends with my skin tone without looking caky.

Since using the products the last couple of days I definitely feel more confident about my makeup beauty routine.

Pink October

We are six days away from the month of October coming to an end and before we close the chapter this month. We should continue to wear pink because we are #notdoneyet. As woman we need to take every pre-cautionary step to prevent being diagnose with breast and/or ovarian cancer.

And since I have a big passion for women's health issues; I've been sporting pink every Friday at my work. So, today I am sharing one of my favorite #pinklooks to support all of our women who were diagnosed, going through treatment and who fought so hard that they left an imprint in our hearts.

Stand with me this Friday and show your #pinksupport because like be Bright Pink states, " We're Not Done until every woman has access to life saving breast & ovarian health education for free."

Lady Leopard Eyes

If you are anything like me during this time of year, I know you are looking forward dressing up for Halloween. And while I am sure you have selected some great costumes to wear there is always the question
of how to wear your makeup. This is a question that all of us struggle with, so I decided to do a great cheetah make up look that is just purr..fect for this October.

Rule No. 1: Apply under eye coverage and use your everyday foundation and powder to entire face.
Rule No.2: Prep your eyelids with the  e.l.f cosmetics shadow lock eyelid primer. The light weights liquid formula absorbs into the skin for comfortable wear and increase eye color longevity.
Rule No.3:  Use a gold like color to highlight underneath the eyebrow area and a rose gold on the eyelid.
Rule No.4: Highlight your the corners of your waterline area with the e.l.f eyeliner and shadow stick. This will create a dramatic definition underneath your eyes.
Rule No.5:  Gently draw the e.l.f eyeliner stick over your lash line to define its shape and build intensity.
Rule No.6: Use the felt tip of the e.l.f intense ink eyeliner to draw the bold cheetah print on eyelid.
Rule No.7:  Use the cream blush palette to apply a glow to the apple of your cheeks.
Rule No.8: Draw in your eyebrows however you like.
Rule No.9: Use the e.l.f aqua beauty molten liquid eyeshadow as a lipstick because the it will give your lips a vibrant metallic look.
Rule No.10: Apply false eyelashes
Rule No.11:  Color the end of your nose and highlight your philtrum ridge with dark- light eye shadow colors.

Fall Into It

As much as I love Summer it's time to transition into some Fall fashion trends.
So, when I found a scarf,  a pair of boots and a purse at T.J. Maxx for the right price...of course
I walked out with a big smile knowing I saved $178.00 dollars!

I was instantly obsessed with the items because I knew the every day chika can where them in their own
unique way. Plus, it's a little sweeter when you know you scored a good fashion deal that won't hurt your wallet. So, let's Fall into It.

1.) The Burgundy Hat is great look for Fall because the color will give your outfit a great hipster look.
2.) A White Tank Top is always a versatile piece because it goes with anything.
3.) Black Denim Jeans gives you a sporty, but fashionable look.
4.) The Scarf hands down is the best way to rock this outfit.
5.) The Belt is a great accessory to define your waistline.
6.) Suede Booties is the easiest possible pairing to pull of an outfit.
7.) A Flap Top Satchel purse is a perfect pretty detail.

I love all the simple details of this outfit because you can practically style the items
in so many different ways and achieve a fashionable look.

With Halloween around the corner let's be sure to have some good costume options.
So today, I am sharing a wicked witch makeup spell, so get ready to take notes for the spell.

First thing first, make sure you start with a clean face before applying any Halloween makeup.
After your face is clean, apply a small amount of under eye concealer.
Second, apply gray cream makeup on your entire face and partial neckline with a make up sponge.
Once dry, apply elf high definition powder to give your skin a high definition look.
Third, apply shadow lock eyelid primer followed by clay eyeshadow palette to eyelids.
Fourth, apply the eyeliner and shadow stick on your waterline to create a bold look.
Fifth, draw in your eyebrows with a black color Halloween makeup pencil.
Sixth, take the same eyeliner and shadow stick and draw a dramatic wing on both eyelids.
Seventh, take the same eyeliner and shadow stick and draw the outline of your lips.
Eigth, apply the moisturizing lipstick and Revlon purple lipstick to your lips.
Ninth, don't forget to add your dramatic lashes.

Swimsuit Tips and Tricks

Do you have a Caribbean vacation trip coming up and realize you need more swimsuits. Maybe your thinking I need to shop online or take a trip to the mall. The tendency to buy several different swimsuits isn't necessary, but you know you want new styles because you want it to fit right and look cute.

Here are my quick simple steps to narrowing your swimsuit wardrobe:
 1. Take out all your existing swimsuits from your closet.
2. Carefully inspect each swimsuit, if the fabric is deteriorated throw it out.
3. After you have your remaining swimsuits, think for a minute if you can
save money. Of course the answer is Yes!

Okay, after rethinking that you can save money, your still thinking to yourself I still want new swimsuit looks. I get it girl, trust me! I am on the same boat as you.
So, here is what I have in mind....

Buy a cute and fitted swimsuit top that can give you at least four different looks.
For example:  I chose to buy a billabong top that was the right pop of color to match with my already
existing bottoms. Also, remember to purchase a swimsuit with the following benefits:
uv protection, chlorine resistant, breathable, stretchable, anti-piling and soft and comfortable.

All in One Romper

I couldn't get enough of the all-in-one crochet-front romper from forever 21. The mustard short-long bell sleeve look made this outfit chic and classy. The pop of color along with the crochet cut-out details made the romper wearable for beach-to-dinner simple. The romper comes in one color (mustard )and three different sizes (S,M,L), but the best part was the affordable prize.

Other minor details that I loved were the ladder cutouts on the long bell sleeves, the tasseled drawstring waist, a semi-sheer crochet panel below the round neckline, and a buttoned keyhole back. Besides being in love with the small details; the outfit was comfortable to wear in the warm humidity weather in Cancún making me feel cool and stylish.

Tulum

Tulum, an ancient world full of admiration. The wall stoned city
is alive with so much beauty and history. The ruins are located on the east coast
of  Yucatán Peninsula on the Carribean Sea in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico.

On our third day of our vacation, we decided to pack our bags and drive from Cancun to Tulum to
explore it's beautiful ruins and beaches. Plus, I promised myself I wasn't going to miss out on visiting the ruins this time around and so the journey began to Tulum.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly guides who will explain the passes and access to the beaches. We decided to purchase the pass were you can explore the ruins, enjoy snorkeling and visit the beach. I will do a two part serious, but for now I will share the Tulum ruins experience.

Paraíso

It was all a dream when I kept thinking about paradise until my feet touch ground in beautiful Cancun, Mexico. The riviera maya is definitely one destination you have to add to your bucket list. The beautiful white sand beaches with light sea blue water calls for a love potion that will have you under a spell for days.

Cancun is also known for its beautiful rich Mexican culture, food, and artisan work. This was my third time to el paraíso and this time around we planned our stay at the all inclusive Iberostar Hotel Resort as well as visited Cancun, Tulum and Holbox. The resort's landscape is one of a kind with palm trees in every corner, an outdoor hammock center and unforgettable views.

My 4 Essential Beauty Travel Tips

Every now and then we start packing our bags for that much needed vacation we all been waiting for a couple of months. And with that said, many of us start coordinating the makeup items we want to take, but often end up with items we won't use. Throughout my travel adventures, I have learned a thing or two about packing the right beauty items for carribean wheather.

So, for my trip to Cancun, I have selected to stay with neutral matt colors from the e.l.f. cosmetics line such as the 1. mad for matte eyeshadow palette, 2. mineral-pearls and the 3. long lasting lustrous eyeshadow. These items will be part of my everyday makeup looks that I will be used through out the day and night.

The long-lasting lustrous eye shadows are vibrant, shimmering, long-wearing color
can be worn as an eye shadow or eyeliner. They will be perfect items to use for the carribean night
life because the shimmery whipped gel texture is easy to blend and lightweight for lasting comfort.

The minerals pearls provides a glistening, sheer wash of color designed to complement any skin tone and create a flawless finish. Six multi-colored pearls blend together to help mattify skin. The Vitamin A, B, C & E infused formula helps condition and hydrate the skin for a soft, silky feel.

The mad for matte will achieve beautiful bold or subtle eye looks with the perfect curated 10 mate eyeshadow shades. The collection of hues are ideal for shaing, highlighting and defining your eyes. The satin matte texture can be used as a liner, on the lid, and in the crease of the eye for an expertly contoured and blended effect

Last, but not least are 4. the brush guard stretchable, breathable polyester tubes that protect your makeup bristles, and brings them back to new! I don't know about you, but I never use to protect my makeup brushes when traveling, but after receiving their package and reading about the brush guard it will definitely help my brushes stay new, clean and reusable time after time. (plus they have more than one purpose, read all about them here. )

For the Record

Before each morning shift,
I climb out of bed in
in pineapple hair bun and long t-shirt
and stare at the mirror telling myself
one more day has hone by and today
is another day to hustle and work harder.

I often dream of the day that I will be by own boss
and really look deep into my eyes knowing that God
has a plan for me and his paving my path slowly, but surely.

I don't know when and I don't know how, but
my mind often circles back to where I once started
and how far I've come.

And for that I am thankful.

Life in a Blue Lace Dress

I took a stroll Sunday afternoon and along the way I fell in
love with some of North Park's scenery, neighborhoods and art.
And then there were places were one could hideaway to really just
chit chat with a girlfriend about life, love and work.
I have to admit that meeting new people and discovering new places makes your life ten
times more enjoyable. Plus, if you happen to wear a dress by coincidence it's most likely
your will get a compliment that will initiate a conversation.

According to a study, women who are happy or positive
are more likely to wear a favorite dress.
So this month's favorite dress is from Francesca's store.

Change is Good

I swear there are times at work where I am starring off into space,
thinking I am ready to run far away from all the stress.

but, then I take a deep breathe
and take a sip of my iced chai coffee and get back into reality.

The only difference this time around is transitioning to a different role
this September, but I am happy to say I am ready to grow and lead.

I often say, change is good because if you are not challenging yourself to
learn new things then you will never know your full potential.

So chikas, August has me feeling good, happy and ready for everything that will be
in store because it's one step closer to make my own dreams evolve.

With that said, I am feeling confident in Banana Republic.
