Shanti Bowl

Music and Sound have been used as tools in ancient history to promote healing and meditation. The singing bowl such as the Singing Bowl is one of the first instruments utilized by mankind. The simple instrument and tool creates a mysterious soundwave that allows you to become one with your body. It also provides different frequencies to relax the body, mind and soul.

I had an opportunity to create a healing place with a  Singing Bowl in my own  home and garden. And prior to being gifted a beautiful handmade piece by Jessica, I remember praying to create a soul loving space in my home after my second miscarriage. My body had experienced death within my own body. And my mind and soul had filled with pain, agony and sadness. As I allowed myself to experience every emotion, I had also created a hostile environment and did not want to linger in that space forever. So, I slowly started to shift the energy in every room to honor, heal and nurture myself.

One day, after cleaning and rearranging the house, I laid down to do a little self-care and watch an episode of my favorite show: The Bing Bang Theory. When all of sudden a big thump noise startled my dog and I, so, I slowly got up to investigate where the strange noise had come from. The rooms where all in place and no items had fallen. I then flipped the porch light on, opened the door and scoped the right side of my house near my window and I found a large green grasshopper. How strange! I thought to myself and took a picture.

You see, earlier in the day before cleaning, my heart was weighing heavy when I woke up in tears and sadness. I remember taking  a deep breathe and praying. So, after experiencing such a strange thing, I decided to look up the meaning.

Grasshopers are also totem animals, animal spirit guides. They often enter peoples lives when a spiritual direction or spiritual healing is needed. By grasshopper showing himself physically to you, he is asking you seek also his spirit and healing vibrations.

Grasshopers can only jump forward, not backward or sideways, showing up could be reaffirming to you that you are taking the right steps to move forward and telling you to go ahead and move forward, getting past what is hindering you.

That same week, Jessica had confirmed my shipment for the singing bowl and it was almost as if my prayer had aligned with my spiritual needs because I had unresolved chronic emotional stress in a particular area of my life connected to my womb. My emotional stress was causing a disturbance that began to manifest to physical illness causing my life energy to leak away from my body. My energy was shifting drastically between anger, fear, depression, and sadness. It was controlling my ability to not move forward until I decided to start healing and honoring my body.

The Shanti bowl and the grasshopper are one of many things centering myself to understand my thoughts and emotions and how my energy works in the female body language through music, prayer and meditation. Thanks to the grasshopper encounter, I am also learning to overcome obstacles efficiently to be able to jump into successful ventures without preparation or planning. It shows me to take a leap of faith and jump forward into a specific area of my life without fear. The shanti bowl has become part of my music therapy and sound healing. The rich harmony soundwaves help eliminate stress and promote holistic healing.

CABE Social Event

Are blogger/social events worth attending? Well, let me tell you, if you invest a pretty little penny to attend an event then you need to put on your thinking hat on and make every moment count. As a matter of fact, at least for me, I end up going to events by myself because I like to explore new cities, meet new people and work on my networking skills.

The problem is that sometime events can be a little like high school. For example, picture it like this...your the new girl in town with no friends, but you like to be adventures and go explore new places or events, but sometime  when you feel like you want the best experience, you end up feeling like you have to choose which group of people you see yourself starting a conversation. Dang, is it that hard!! It can be.. because while your thinking who do you want to approach. Your also left  observing how the crowd vibe is. In other words, which clicks have formed...who is who in the room.... superficials vs genuine … beauty gurus vs fashion... bloggers vs entrepreneurs.. Yup... the list can go on..and on.., but quite frankly put all that aside and just be you!

Your best approach to networking is to genuinely be you and not fear approaching a person to start a conversation. You be surprise how easy it can be and how well you can start connecting with others. Most of all connect with brands and people you see yourself collaborating with and having long lasting relationships.

Cabo San Lucas

It's been a couple weeks of  home projects, work and life. We finally been living in our new house for a couple months, and have already experience some downfalls with certain things like a water pipe breaking, a 30 year old fence needing to be replace and fixing the garage. We have worked extra hard the last couple months to achieve a couple things in our list, but just in general, home projects can be stressful, kiaotic and expensive. So after trying to sort things out with our neighbors and what not, we both looked at each other and said it's time for a weekend gateaway.

Don't get me wrong, its not just like we just got up and were in Cabo the next day, but we did look at air flight and hotel deals that could give a good bang for our buck. And ladies, we found the best air flight deal through  Volaris  and  booked a 3 night stay with sandos finisterra hotel resort.

So, off we went with our packed luggage to the airport in Tijuana (which by the way needs a lot of progress).  After boarding our air flight, it only took two hours to arrive in Cabo. Once we landed we got our belongings and headed out to the taxi area where you have a choice of booking a private cab for $84 US dollars or split a cab with a group of passengers. We chose to share the cab with other passengers and this meant the cab driver will make several stops to drop of guest to their hotel site.  Which is not bad, but it can take a little time to get to your destination.

Upon arrival to the hotel we were both greeted with champagne and immediately introduce to activity deals. When the receptionist asked what we had in mind, we both said, to relax.. and of course enjoy the pool, beach, scenery, food and perhaps maybe walk into town, but no extra activities. She smiled, and said, " that sounds like a plan, enjoy your stay at Sandos!"

Summer Denim

Everyone seems to be ready for Summer except me! Well let's not be dramatic, but to be quite honest, I just having been consistent with my training. I am still trying to figure out my gym routine and just can't seem to get my mojo, but I know as long as I keep trying I will get my groove back.

Although I am not beach body ready, I still love to whip up a chic Summer look, so I name this look "Summer Denim" because it's time to look for your jeans short, jacket and a colorful top from your closet roll out feeling good.

Baja Stroll

I'm always looking forward to traveling to different places, especially finding spots where they have a good langosta! On this trip to Baja California the weather was a little chilly with a beam of sunlight, so instead of wearing shorts with a Summer top. A threw on a pair of Lauren Conrad skinny ankle jeans, a pink polka dot print top and black suede sandals.

This quick simple look can always be dressed up, but if your looking to stay comfortable than I recommend staying with flats, especially if you are going to do a lot of walking to explore different nearby sites. If the weather is a little windy while traveling, roll your hair into a tiny hair bun and throw on some Quay Australia  sunglasses and enjoy a little sun on your stroll.

Palms Springs Roadtrip to Create & Cultivate

Okay, so I will be honest here chicas-I didn't exactly planned to travel alone to Palm Springs for the Create & Cultivate one day pop up event. The problem is I didn't have anyone to go with, but traveling alone made me realize how much more I like meeting new people, network and enjoy the moment.

So, when I booked my ticket for the Create & Cultivate I didn't think twice about it because I solely relied on the fact that I needed a break from everything that going on with me internally. All I knew was that I was booking a ticket and going! And it  didn't hit me until far after I had purchase the ticket, received confirmation, and told myself that I would be going out of my comfort zone. And it only hit me because my husband asked, "Who I was going with?" and for the first time I had to think about the fact the answer was "no one".

Ultimately I was really happy that I went by myself because I met some wonderful ladies, but most of all I met two ladies while waiting in line the day of the event who also had done the same as me. It was such a good feeling that I was not alone or crazy for traveling by myself. I know sometimes traveling by yourself can scare the daylights out my husband, but you're only young for so long! And you can't stop yourself from wanting to experience new places, meeting new brands and events.

Colourpop Eyeshadow Palette

I love the colourpop shadows, the palette is an interested shade range and it's beyond exciting to have a palette that has a focal point that adheres easily to the eyes, gives a soft focus effect, and blends smoothly and evenly.

The pressed powders apply evenly and feel ultra-velvety and silky. However, some of the shimmery shades do produce a bit of fallout, so make sure you do your eyeshadow first to sweep away the any excess product.

With the help of my Luxie tampered brushes, I was able to achieve a natural vibrant look. And although crease work becomes tricky, you just have to remind yourself to build the shadow to full opacity.
Price and Value
The pressed shadow palette is prices just right at $18 USD for a newt weight 12 x 0.85 g (0.03 oz)

I love the metallic/pigmented shadows as lid shade paired with powders in the crease. They are indeed an interesting formula and the shade range is beyond exciting. .

The Flower Fields of Carlsbad

Have you ever taken a moment to discover nature's wonders; find a place where you can sit and admire a field of flowers that overlook the Pacific Ocean while reflecting on how beautiful life is regardless of all the struggles.  Just recently my husband and I decided to visit The Flower Fields of Carlsbad Ranch to get an up close view of the hillside that bloomed with endless flowers.

For over 60 years, the flowers fields have left a long lasting impression to most visitors like ourselves. And it has become one of the most spectacular sites to visit in San Diego during Spring Time. As you visit and walk the blooming 50 acres you will feel of sense of love and tranquility.

Coachella Summer Vibes

Prior to taking a complete break this month  due to my health, I had put together a simple Coachella look in March for all the wonderful hipsters going out to Palm Springs. And since, most hot babes love to wear fringe, lace, stressed jeans and shorts and floral prints. I whipped up a quick look that will get you through the heat while enjoying the festival.

If you have an off the shoulder floral top print, pair it  with some stressed shorts and pattern boots. And since the Sun is going to be out and shining, wear your hair in a half way mini bun. Some accessories are simple bracelets or temporary tattoos with same Quay Australia shades. Your pretty much ready to enjoy Coachella Music and Art festival. Peace!

Spring Palazzo Pants

Palazzo pants are a bold look, which can at times make them a little intimidating, but to be quite honest any girl can pull them off! Here is a quick tip on how to wear palazzo pants for petite women:
  • Tops: If you favorite pants have a design go with a solid color top to balance your look
  • Accessories: Pick an item like handbag, sunglasses or necklaces that add an expression to your look
  • Match your shape and size: For petite women like myself, remember to opt for higher waist palazzo pants to give the appearance of longer legs.
  • Remember to always freshen up the look to inspire your style: Cool and Casual, Formal, Beach Beauty and Business Babe.
Here is my favorite Cool and Casual Look

Sabor Latino 2018

March seventeen was a great day to celebrate Sabor Latino at the San Diego Latino Film Festival. It was there 3rd Annual Food, Beer and Wine Festival where one got to enjoy unlimited tastings inspired by celebrated Latino Chefs like: Steven Novoa, Daniella De La Puente, Jorge Gonzalez and many more. There were also some of the best wineries from Baja California as well as some cumbia and salsa music vibes.

Food is a universal language to get to meet new people, but also to enjoy good bocadillos con sabor! And although the weather was a bit chilly, I  was able to stay warm by layering a sleeves dress with a stripped turtle neck and white scarf. To complete the look, I added sunnies, sandals and a pink backpack. Having my hands free from a purse was perfect as I roamed around to different food vendors.

Sporty Chic

Sporty, but chic, I thinks those were the perfect words to my outfit and I am all about bringing my athletic gear back. Obviously, I wanted to keep this look simple and comfortable, so I layered two simple dresses, added some gray sneakers and a small backpack. I absolutely adore dresses that can be layered and it just so happens they were sitting in my closet.

The reason I love this particular pairing is because it's definitely easy to run around in for a casual Sunday afternoon while running errands or simply catching lunch with your gals. This past weekend, I had a chance to go check a new café location at Vanite Café in San Diego. The café has a great selection of organic milk teas, coffee, crystal boba and macaroons. Although they did not have the churros sweets ready, I went with a delicious pebble and pistachio macaroon. I have to admit the pebble was more delicious!

WeAllGrow Latina #WellnessDay18

I've been working on the intention of making space to heal and free myself from all the agony and pain I was going through this past year. I often found myself trying to figure out things my way and simply making mistakes because I voided letting God enter my space for a while. It's not that I am not a believer because I am, but my connection to my faith drifted abundantly when uncertainty gained a dark place in my heart. Had I been wrong for letting go, absolutely not, I was simply lost and heart broken.

After realizing that I could no longer lean into my own understanding, I created a space for God to slide something new into my life. December was the beginning of my healing phase and  I prayed for a transition in my life to help me reconnect with my relationships, intuition and life goals.

Although, this year has been slow, it's been filled with strange experiences, surprises and love. It was also the perfect timing to get reconnect my sisterhood at the weallgrowlatina annual conference.

Finding the Space to Heal

It's been mere months since my past conception and since my first baby passed away and I was left heartbroken and overwhelmed; not sure how to handle the situation. I had a great support system in place with my husband, family and friends. However, I still felt lost within myself and wish someone had given me advice on what on earth to do. What was once joyful tears turned into painful tears.

So I took the best possible advice from my mother and distracted my myself  by staying busy with work, while I put blogging and podcasting on hold. The intention to stay busy was to not dwell on the experience and memories, but they always found a place, time and day where tears would stream down my face. I would quickly wipe my tears from my face, telling myself,,I am strong and I will be okay. The truth is, I was lost and disconnected.

And traveling on a swirvy road can be at bit challenging, but make sure you stay alert and awake with on coming traffic and vehicles trying to pass you. This means putting your phone down and actually really paying attention because there is only a two way highway ladies and no room for errors!

New Year, A Healthier You

New year resolutions is a bit like healthy recipes there fun to make, but hard to maintain  and that same concept applies to our fitness goals.

Every January, roughly 1 in 3 people buy a new gym membership to get in shape, but only 75% of people really stick to their fitness goals. So instead of adding another gym routine, let's change things up by doing fitness outdoors.
